Fairfax, VA

Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has been selected by Colorado Springs Utilities to design the Highline Transmission Pipeline, an estimated $14-million, 42-inch to 24-inch diameter finished water pipeline.

In the 2009 Finished Water Master Plan, Colorado Springs Utilities identified the need for a pipeline to connect the Highline Pressure Zone to a new water treatment plant in the southeast portion of the city, being built as part of the $860-million Phase 1 Southern Delivery System (SDS) program. This mega project will transport water from the Arkansas River to the city of Colorado Springs.

The Highline Transmission Pipeline will deliver finished, treated water to five separate connection points in the existing distribution system. The pipeline will also connect to the future water treatment plant main; and continue west for approximately five miles, located within existing street right of ways, existing utility easements, or future easements that will be acquired as part of this project.

The Highline Transmission Pipeline is scheduled to be online by April 2014.
