Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has recently hired three environmental experts in the firm's Parsippany, New Jersey, office. The addition of Douglas Sullivan, Stephen Trainor, and Kenneth Thornton will help bolster the environmental management, natural resources, and regulatory compliance teams in the Northeast region.

Douglas Sullivan has been hired as the department manager for environmental management and regulatory compliance. In his new role, he will be responsible for leading a team of professionals in the area of hazardous waste investigation and remediation, environmental permitting and compliance, and sustainability for both public- and private-sector clients. Sullivan brings more than three decades of experience in project and program management, contract review, and regulatory compliance. He also has significant experience in growing business and client relationships supporting environmental, site assessment, remediation, and regulatory compliance needs. Prior to joining Dewberry, he served as deputy program manager with Nobis Engineering, Inc. working on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 2 Remedial Action Contract (RAC). He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Norwich University. Sullivan serves on the Environmental Business Council of the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey and is also a member of the Society of American Military Engineers.

Kenneth Thornton, PG, has been hired as a senior project manager in the firm's Carlisle, Pennsylvania, office. He is responsible for waste management-related environmental investigations and remediation, environmental management system technical assistance, and compliance audits. Prior to retiring from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) in 2013, he was responsible for the statewide strategic environmental management program. Thornton brings 30 years of experience in geology, waste management, pollution prevention, and environmental remediation to Dewberry. He earned a bachelor's degree in geology from California University of Pennsylvania. Thornton is a member of the Transportation Research Board Committee ADC-60 Waste Management & Resource Efficiency in Transportation and is a Pennsylvania-certified asbestos inspector.

Stephen Trainor, PE, has been hired as a senior environmental engineer and has experience in civil and environmental engineering, with a concentration on hydrology, hydraulics, and regulatory permitting. In his new position, he will be responsible for supporting analysis, design, and permitting efforts associated with green infrastructure and stormwater management, ecological restoration, and site remediation projects. Trainor brings 18 years of technical experience and is focused extensively on fluvial/tidal hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and designs and preparation of local, state, and federal regulatory permit applications. Trainor's project experience includes flood control programs, floodplain and floodway delineations, highway and site drainage designs, structural and non-structural stormwater designs, bridge replacements, hazardous waste site investigations and remediation, and ecological restoration, and wetland mitigation. He earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Lehigh University. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the New Jersey Association for Floodplain Management.
