Dewberry has announced the promotions of Steven Kuntz, PE, to vice president, and Jeremy Beck, PE, Christopher Simon, PE, and Mark Unterkofler, PE, to associate vice president.
Steven Kuntz is manager of the firm's Fairfax, Virginia, roadway design group. With nearly 20 years of experience in civil engineering, Kuntz has served as a project manager or roadway design manager on large design-build projects and design-bid-build transportation projects throughout the Northern Virginia area. Kuntz earned his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (1999). He is a licensed professional engineer in Georgia, Maryland, and Virginia, a designated design-build professional, and a member of the Design-Build Institute of America.
Jeremy Beck is a senior project manager for the firm's transportation department, based in the Fairfax office. With 16 years of experience, Beck has developed and managed numerous design-build, design-bid-build, and task order transportation-related projects, overseeing activities of multi-disciplined engineering project teams and interacting with local, state, and federal agencies. He obtained his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the Pennsylvania State University (2002). Beck is a licensed professional engineer in Virginia and an Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector in Virginia, and is certified by the Virginia Department of Transportation in Advanced Work Zone Traffic Control.
As the manager of the firm's construction engineering and inspection group, Christopher Simon is based in the firm's Gainesville, Virginia, office. With more than 12 years of experience, Simon has completed extensive field and office work on multiple large-scale transportation projects involving private and government entities, including work on the Dulles Corridor Metrorail, Fairfax County Parkway, Route 28 in Virginia, and numerous VDOT traffic studies. Simon earned his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the Pennsylvania State University (2006). He is a licensed professional engineer in Washington, D.C., Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia, and an American Traffic Safety Services Association Traffic Control Supervisor, Certified Construction Manager, Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector licensed in Virginia, and a Troxler Radiation Safety Officer. He is certified in Nuclear Gauge Safety and OSHA Construction Safety and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Mark Unterkofler is a senior structural engineer based in the firm's Fairfax office. With more than 28 years of experience, Unterkofler has experience in the design and inspection of highway bridges and associated highway structures, having served as the design manager, assistant project manager, bridge design manager, bridge project engineer, and bridge design engineer for numerous projects. He obtained his bachelor's degree (1987) and his master's degree (1989) in civil engineering from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Unterkofler is a licensed professional engineer in Virginia.
