Executive Chairman Barry K. Dewberry and Dewberry Chief Executive Officer Donald E. Stone, Jr., announce the confirmation of Terry Boston, PE, to Dewberry's board of directors.
Boston currently runs a consultancy focused on power supply planning, cybersecurity, transmission, and renewables development and storage. At the end of 2015, he retired from PJM Interconnection, L.L.C. where he served as president and chief executive officer for eight years. While with PJM, an organization that coordinates and directs the transmission grid operation of a 13-state region including Virginia and the District of Columbia, he was responsible for developing and implementing all business strategies, technology partnerships, and reinforcing excellent customer service. Prior to joining PJM and for the majority of his career, Boston held roles of increasing responsibility, including executive vice president, power system operations, senior manager for pricing, and division manager for electric system reliability at the Tennessee Valley Authority. The Tennessee Valley Authority is a corporate agency of the United States that provides electricity for businesses and local power companies; and serves 9 million people in parts of seven southeastern states.
Boston is a 2017 U.S. Presidential appointee to the National Infrastructure Advisory Council (NIAC/DHS). He is past president of GO15, an association of the world's largest power grid operators. He served as a vice president of CIGRE, International Council of Large Electric Systems and received the CIGRE 2016 Attwood Award.
"On behalf of the board of directors and all of our staff, we welcome Terry," says Barry K. Dewberry. "His reputation, stature, and experience in the energy market are well known throughout the world. Terry began making a difference in the way we think about Dewberry's future from the first time we met. Terry will clearly be a force as a director."
"For a while now, Dewberry has engaged successfully in the energy and power market, yet remains a 'best kept secret,'" adds Stone. "We look forward to the guidance and advice Terry will give us as we continue to expand into this market."
"As I'm getting to know Dewberry better, it's clear that they have great potential to engage their services even more in power systems, both transmission and generation, as well as expand their expertise in lidar, remote sensing, and emergency planning and response within this market," says Boston. "I look forward to my service on the board and getting to know the other distinguished board members, Dewberry's leadership, and talented employees."
Boston holds a Bachelor of Science in engineering, magna cum laude, from Tennessee Technological University (1972) and a Master of Science in engineering administration from the University of Tennessee (1977). He is a registered professional engineer in Tennessee.
