Dewberry has announced that the Louisville Wastewater Treatment Plant project won a 2017 H20 Award from the Colorado Contractors Association for projects over $5 million.
The project was recognized as a wastewater plant that exemplified excellence in construction project management. Dewberry performed plant compliance assistance, facility evaluation and planning, design, and construction phase engineering services for the Louisville Wastewater Treatment Plant improvements.
Completed in December 2017, the project increased capacity and accommodated stricter effluent nutrient limits set by the state of Colorado. Dewberry designed a new headworks facility (with two new mechanical bar screens and two new grit removal systems), a 2.5 MGD Johannesburg biological nutrient removal secondary process and secondary clarifiers, solids handling upgrades, two new channel UV disinfection systems, a new backup generator, a remodel of the existing operations lab, and a new 2,000-square-foot shop building. Construction costs totaled $29 million.
