Troy Windom, manager of federal automation
systems for Dewberry, has been named Progressive Consulting Engineer of the
Year by ControlTrends, a global
information-sharing network for the HVAC and industrial controls industry.
Windom was recognized for his demonstrated industry leadership in advancing the
smart building.
Windom is based in the Raleigh office of
Dewberry. He has more than 25
years of experience, and has spent six years with Dewberry focusing on building
automation and controls. He specializes in managing teams for building
automation, commissioning, retro-commissioning, and mechanical systems.
Windom’s background highlights the management of control projects, including
design, writing specifications, test procedures, coordinating contractor
testing, and providing training and related procedures.
Windom is currently overseeing a large,
$45-million federal contract for Dewberry, through which the firm is providing
architectural and engineering services in support of the U.S. Army Engineering
and Support Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
Prior to joining the consulting industry, Windom
spent six years in the U.S. Navy where he worked as a Machinist Mate on board a
nuclear submarine, ported out of Charleston, South Carolina. He went on to earn
a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from North Carolina State
University (1993). Windom is a member of the Society of American Military
Engineers (SAME).
