The American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) Academy of Architecture for Justice (AAJ) has named 13 recipients in the Justice Facilities Review awards program, including the Glen Ellyn Police Station in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
Dewberry provided a variety of services on the project, including architecture;
interior design; and civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing
engineering. The 29,000-square-foot, design-build project was completed in 2017
at a cost of nearly $13.5 million. The project has already received two awards,
including an Excellence in Architecture award from the AIA Northeast-Illinois
Chapter and a Silver Medal Award from the Association of Licensed Architects.
“We are proud of earning this recognition,” says
Dewberry Associate and Project Manager Jonathan Tallman, AIA, GGP, GPCP. “It is
an honor to have our project named among such outstanding competition.”
The Justice Facilities Review program offers
examples of a broad range of design strategies and depicts the latest trends in
the design and construction of justice facilities in the U.S., including the
implementation of sustainable justice principles. These projects demonstrate
quality of form, functionality, and current architectural responses to complex
justice design issues.
