Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has announced that retired Col. Tom Asbery has joined the firm as a federal market lead for architecture based in its Fairfax, Virginia, office.
Asbery is an accomplished leader with nearly 30 years of military service in the U.S. Army, where he managed large, highly complex national security infrastructure projects across the globe. After retirement from his role as director of facilities for the National Defense University for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Asbery served as the principal and owner of CBTA Consultants LLC, providing program and project management services to small and large architecture and engineering businesses seeking to pursue work in the federal market. In his new role with Dewberry, Asbery will be responsible for maintaining and expanding the firm’s federal architectural portfolio, including client management.
“Tom’s leadership skills and extensive experience will be so beneficial to finding unique solutions for our clients and their communities,” says Dewberry President Dave Huey, RA. “We’re excited to welcome him to our team.”
Asbery received a master’s degree in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College (2016) and a master’s degree in architecture from Virginia Tech (2002). He received a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from West Virginia University (1994). Asbery is a member of the Army Engineer Association, Association of the United States Army, Project Management Institute, and Society of American Military Engineers.
