Leadership Texas

Texas is a huge state with a diverse set of issues. As an architect and principal in the Dallas office, I’m current on issues related specifically to our city. But with the state government located in Austin—a few hundred miles away—sometimes I only get the remote version of state level issues and don’t always hear what’s happening in other regions.

I’m very excited to have recently been selected as a member of the Leadership TexasClass of 2012; a program of Women’s Resources. The program brings Texas women together and provides them with educational, travel, and study opportunities to improve their leadership capacities and expand their knowledge of the diverse issues, dynamics, and cultures that impact the state of Texas. This year’s theme, “Texas Women Leaders—On the Highway to a Fast, Forward Future,” is providing participants the opportunity to visit five Texas cities: Austin, El Paso, Amarillo, Houston, and Dallas.

As one of 115 women leaders selected from across the state, I’m looking forward to connecting with other female professionals from disciplines outside of the architectural profession, learning about the challenges they face, and hearing their perspectives on government and community issues.

Stay tuned for updates throughout the year on my experience!
