In 2011, Tropical Storm Lee left a wide path of destruction, stretching from the Gulf Coast states to New England. The Borough of Middletown, Pennsylvania, sustained substantial damage. To assist in the community's recovery, we provided technical support for gaining $1.2 million in public assistance (PA) and $2.5 million in hazard mitigation Grant program (HMGP) funding. We conducted a feasibility study to support the relocation of Middletown's flooded electric substation, as well as technical assistance in support of seven FEMA HMGP grant projects that provided funding for the purchase of 31 properties and demolition of all structures.

With timelines for availability of both PA and HMGP funding set to expire in three weeks, we worked quickly and efficiently to give the borough detailed reports so they could recover from this historical flooding event.
