Halifax County Schools' ambitious capital program in Virginia included modernization of the middle school and construction of two new elementary schools. The complex middle school renovation and expansion created a flexible facility for 1,500 students in grades 6-8. The design supports team teaching and incorporates extensive technology, including one of the most advanced multimedia labs in the country. The elementary schools feature a unique configuration of six pavilions, each housing a grade level with support spaces that include a multipurpose area, computer lab, and teacher meeting space.
