As part of the RMTC/URS joint venture, we evaluated and mapped the magnitude and extent of coastal hazards due to hurricanes for six Hawaiian islands. Although the effective Flood Insurance Rate Maps had accounted for tsunami hazards, the hurricane flood hazard had not been previously evaluated separately in a comprehensive study throughout the islands. We conducted storm surge modeling, stillwater frequency analysis, overland wave modeling, and hazard zone mapping tasks.
