On the third floor roof adjacent to the existing surgery suite of the Houston Methodist Hospital Dunn Building, we designed a two-story, 4,600-square-foot addition that enabled the hospital to gain three new operating rooms. The advanced operating room equipment enables physicians to guide catheters to previously impossible-to-reach locations in the heart or vascular system, minimizing damage.
The Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital needed 1,500 square feet of surgery space remodeled to accommodate its new hybrid operating room. To avoid moving materials through an active surgery suite, we determined that the hospital could install a construction access door from the loading dock to the project site. We designed a platform to provide access to the hybrid surgery construction site, which enabled the project site to be fully self-contained, enhancing infection control measures set in place by the hospital.
For the Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital's new hybrid operating room, we designed and expanded the existing eight-room surgical suite by utilizing the only available shell space within the building—meeting the necessary space requirements for equipment, infrastructure, regulatory, and operational standards.
