We designed a renovation for an 1,250-square-foot pediatric MRI room, control room, and equipment room on the second floor of the Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus located in Katy, Texas. The project’s objective was to replace the old MRI with a new Siemens Vida 3T MRI. The walls, millwork, and MRI were wrapped in an “underwater bliss” theme that serves as a welcoming environment for child patients. The entire wing of the hospital has an underwater theme that allows children to follow various sea life and characters to the appropriate procedure room. For the MRI suite, the children follow a sea turtle painted on the walls along the route, keeping them entertained and distracted during their visit. Design and construction were completed in March 2020.
